QPSMR classic customer standard version (no additional charge)

If you have a classic QPSMR software lease (QPSMR Insight or QPSMR CATI) you are also entitled to a "standard version" QPSMR Companion lease.  As well as the complimentary features listed above, QPSMR Companion offers questionnaire definition (with many set-up short cuts and added extras), the ability to export a triple-s XML meta-data file to match an existing data file, and extra raw data file facilities (see below).  In time QPSMR Companion will include all the data and analysis features you currently use in your classic programs plus much more, including web surveys!

After downloading the QPSMR Companion program (using the link above) please contact QPSMR Limited to obtain your unique licence information to activate the standard version facilities (see below).

QPSMR classic customer extended facilities version (additional charge)

As well as all the new features in the standard version the extended facilities version includes a some "real goodies" (see below) for which we ask you to pay a small additional fee of £100 per single user licence, £150 for 2 users, £175 for 3 users or £200 for 4 or more users at the same site.  Prices exclude VAT where applicable and will be invoiced pro-rata to coincide with classic annual software lease periods.  Please contact QPSMR Limited for more information.

If you don't already have a classic QPSMR program and you would like to make full use of the QPSMR Companion, you will need to lease QPSMR Insight (or QPSMR CATI) then request your Companion software.

QPSMR Companion Standard Version

Features include:

Right click options - Clicking your right mouse button allows you to insert questions, variables and filters, to rename (automatically updating all references to the entry) as well as to update, delete, copy, paste etc.

Copy and Paste Special - [Next] and [Previous] buttons make naming copied entries quick and simple; if filters and variables are copied within a set, their definitions will automatically be updated, so all you need to do is change the texts!

Tabs and Up / Down sequence arrows - The “Entry details” window, now includes various tabs (for "questions" the tabs used are [Question] [Extra] [Filters] [Settings] and [Responses]).  Once a tab is selected it is possible to move up and down the entries in your project in sequence (or an update list) showing the selected tab.  Ideal for checking appropriate settings have been applied on all relevant entries

Response features and Tool windows - lists of responses can easily be inserted using the [Add responses] toolbar icon.  You can choose to leave blank lines in the list (to create empty responses) and can request that numbers included at the end of the texts should be used as score values.  Input and analysis settings (such as Single response only, Refuse input, Row ranking etc) can also be applied by making selections from the appropriate tool windows, which can be positioned on screen as required

Duplicate this entry - Once you have defined a question, filter or variable, the [New] [Duplicate this entry] menu selection creates an exact copy of the entry, stepping up the entry name as appropriate (for example, Q1 to Q2, F5A to F5B, V6.1 to V6.2 etc) and pasting the duplicate immediately below the current entry.  Ideal for quickly creating banks of rating scale questions – once duplicated, simply set the [Question] tab and use the Up/Down sequence arrows to change the question texts!

Entry names - Upper case characters, lower case characters, or a combination of both, can be used in entry names.  The default is both, but there is an [Upper case entry names] switch if you prefer to use capital letters.

Definitions checked as written, Undo and Carry forward texts - All filter and variable syntax definitions are checked as they are typed,if you make a mistake a cross is shown on screen (if everything is correct a tick will be shown).  If you really mess things up, anywhere in the program, there is an [Undo] option!  For CATI and CAPI users every carry forward text is checked and any that do not use valid entry names will be reported, so you can change them accordingly.

Main window sorting - From the “Main” window you can sort the entries in your project by [Name], [Type], [Text] etc simply by clicking on the column heading (clicking [Sequence] to return to the project entry order).  Also you can drag and drop the columns themselves to change their order on screen.

Unicode texts, spell checking and translating - Selecting [Project] [Output all entry texts to file] creates a CSV file containing all of the texts used in your project, but showing them once only; an extra “Count” column shows how many times the text is used within your questionnaire.  This means that it is a quick an easy process to change texts, spell check and/or translate text into a different language.  When the modified CSV file is used to [Update all entry texts using file] all mentions of the modified text will automatically be updated.

Rapid randomization - For CAPI and CATI users, simply select ALL entries to include in a random group, select [Edit] [Randomize questions] set a group name and click the button!

Icon to switch - Simply use the "tree" icon to switch to your classic QPSMR software for data and analysis facilities.

NEW - Next and Previous buttons - have been included on the "Entry details for variables" box.

NEW - Paste Special box - an extra [Remove references] button has been added to the  "Paste Special" box, so you can remove filters applied to the copies entries before pasting.

NEW - Raw data view - with a standard version of the QPSMR Companion you can now sort and collate raw data and also produce a hole count from it.

NEW - General information - projects now open faster and we have made some "card changes".  You can now include 314 cards per record (serial) - the previous limit was 200 ... and the next version, 2008.1, will allow 999 cards per record, so watch this space!

QPSMR Companion Extended Facilities version

As well as all of the facilities in the "standard version" described above, the QPSMR Companion Extended Facilities version also includes ...

Block (copy and paste) ~ Extended Facility - If you choose to lease an Extended Facility version of the QPSMR Companion whole sets of entries can be copied, pasted, renamed and definitions updated, where appropriate, very easily using the [Block] selection from the “Paste special” dialog box.  Ideal for product tests where 100s of entries can be created for subsequent products with just a few clicks, then [Text find and replace] can be used to change brand identifiers, you can even preview text changes before accepting them!

Block responses update ~ Extended Facility - With the Extended Facilities version it is possible to add [Supplemental reject responses] (known as User defined reject responses in the classic programs) and to add [Refuse input settings] to responses without text, and remove them if responses have text.  It is also quick and easy to “globally” add [Score values] wherever required in your project.  The program shows, once only, all of the different response sequences used in the entries you have selected, so you can specify the scores you wish to apply (using the [Ascending] and [Descending] buttons to further speed the process if appropriate) and with a simple click all will be updated!

NEW - Raw CSV file - Data extract ~ Extended Facility - with an extended facilities version of the QPSMR Companion, from the "Raw CSV file view window " you can use [Edit] [Extract part of view] to obtain part of the data from a CSV file.  The extracted data can then be saved to another file, copied to the clipboard, or further extractions can be made.

The original file is not altered; a copy of the relevant data is used.  You can:

bulletchoose to extract only rows that contain a certain value in a particular column.
bulletsort the rows on a particular column.
bulletexclude all columns that begin with a certain character or string of characters.
bulletselect one or more individual columns to extract.
bulletremove all duplicate rows from the extracted data.

The data you have selected is shown in a new "Raw CSV file view" window.  The data has been copied for this new window; changes to this new window will not alter the original contents.  You can also extract the data again from the new window, for example, to apply a second row filter or a second sort order.

NEW - Raw data file - Repair and Add serial ~ Extended Facility - from the "Raw data view window" customers with an extended facility QPSMR Companion lease can select [Collate] [Tidy collated file or change serial numbers] to repair data structure errors or to add or update all the serial numbers in a data file.

For any questionnaires with a faulty or missing serial number, this section allows you to choose to:

bulletDiscard records - delete these records from the file view.
bulletAllocate new number - give a starting serial number to be used to replace the first faulty serial number.  The next faulty serial numbers will be given the next number up, and so on.
bulletMake no change.

For any questionnaires with missing fixed card numbers, this section allows you to choose to:

bulletDiscard records - delete the whole of the records from the file view.
bulletAdd empty cards - create empty cards with no data for any missing card numbers.
bulletMake no change.

For any questionnaires with the same serial number as another, this section allows you to choose to:

bulletDiscard - all but the last one are deleted from the file view.  This assumes that the final one in the data file is the correct one.
bulletAllocate new numbers - give a starting serial number to be used to replace the first duplicate serial number. The next record with a duplicated serial number will be given the next number up, and so on.  This renumbers all the records that started with duplicate serial numbers.
bulletMake no change.

For all the records in the file, you can choose to [Replace the serial numbers]:

bulletAllocate new numbers - give a starting serial number to be used to replace the first record.  The next record will be given the next number up, and so on.
bulletAdd value - adds a given number to all the serial numbers.
bulletCombine two column locations - make a new serial number by combining two numbers from the data.  The two numbers have a data location and a width.  The second number will be padded with leading zeros added to its width, if necessary.
bulletMake no change.
